Hyderabad BJP MLA Raja Singh Placed Under House Arrest Amid Temple Visit Controversy

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA T Raja Singh was placed under house arrest on October 14, preventing him from visiting the Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad. The police action came amid tensions following the desecration of an idol at the temple, where a man broke in and damaged the goddess’s idol before being caught and thrashed by locals.

Raja Singh demanded a thorough probe into the incident, questioning the motive of the perpetrator and the frequent targeting of Hindu sentiments in the state. He also criticized the police for attributing such incidents to mental disturbance.

The incident follows a similar incident in Nampally last week, where a Durga idol was desecrated by a man later found to be mentally unstable. Police have deployed heavy security to prevent further unrest in the area.
