Hyderabad Traffic Advisory: Major Diversions Announced for Durga Idol Immersion

The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic diversions across the city ahead of the Durga Mata idol immersion celebrations. The restrictions will remain in force from 3:00 PM on October 21 until 6:00 AM on October 24, covering key immersion locations including People’s Plaza, Garden Point, and the baby ponds at Jalavihar and Sanjeevaiah Park. According to the traffic advisory, diversions will be enforced based on real-time traffic conditions, while vehicles carrying Durga idols will be given priority access on designated routes to ensure the smooth conduct of the immersion process.

Several important roads and junctions will witness traffic diversions during this period. Vehicles travelling from Panjagutta and Raj Bhavan Road towards the Khairatabad Flyover will be diverted at V.V. Statue towards Nirankari Junction, while traffic from Iqbal Minar, Secretariat Junction, Liberty, Upper Tank Bund, Necklace Road, Ranigunj, and Minister Road will also be redirected through alternate routes depending on congestion levels. Only vehicles transporting Durga idols will be permitted to use certain restricted stretches, with all other motorists required to follow the diversion plan issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police.

Commuters have been advised to avoid busy junctions such as V.V. Statue, Old Saifabad Police Station, Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad Traffic Police Junction, Basheerbagh, Liberty, Old Ambedkar Statue, Upper Tank Bund, and Nallagutta X Roads, where heavy traffic congestion is expected throughout the immersion period. Authorities have urged residents to plan their journeys in advance, cooperate with traffic personnel, and use alternate routes whenever possible. The police also stated that additional diversions may be introduced if traffic volume increases, ensuring the safe and orderly completion of the Durga idol immersion festivities.
