The Congress party has announced its candidates for the upcoming biennial Telangana Legislative Council elections from the two Graduate MLC constituencies. Sama Rammohan Reddy has been nominated to contest from the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad Graduates’ Constituency, while Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy will represent the party in the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituency. The names were approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, with the announcement made through a statement issued by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal.
Meanwhile, the voter enrolment process for the Graduate MLC constituencies has officially begun following the issuance of a public notice under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy has urged all eligible graduates to register as voters. The electoral rolls will be prepared afresh with November 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, meaning even those who were previously registered must submit a fresh application to be included in the new electoral roll.
The Election Commission of India has announced that the two Graduate MLC seats will fall vacant in March 2027, making the biennial elections necessary. To qualify for voter registration, an applicant must have completed a degree or an equivalent qualification at least three years before the qualifying date and must be an ordinary resident of the concerned Graduates’ constituency. The draft electoral rolls will be published on November 25, 2026, while the final electoral rolls are scheduled to be released on December 30, 2026. Meanwhile, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has also appealed to eligible graduates to register before the deadline and actively participate in the democratic process.
