Satish Salian, father of late Disha Salian, has issued a legal notice seeking ₹500 crore in defamation damages from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The notice demands an unconditional public apology, withdrawal of the alleged defamatory statements, and compensation, giving both leaders seven days to respond. Disha Salian, the former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai, with police initially registering the case as an accidental death.

The legal notice alleges that Aaditya Thackeray falsely portrayed Satish Salian’s pursuit of justice as politically motivated and malicious while also claiming that the CBI had already investigated the case and given him a clean chit. It further accuses Anil Deshmukh of publicly describing the Disha Salian case as a conspiracy to defame Thackeray, alleging that these remarks damaged Satish Salian’s reputation by portraying him as a dishonest and politically motivated litigant. The notice also demands that both leaders issue a written and video apology across major print, television, digital media, and their official social media platforms.

The development comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into Disha Salian’s death and registered an FIR naming several individuals. Aaditya Thackeray has strongly denied any connection with Disha Salian, stating that he had never met or known her and describing the allegations as an evidence-free attempt at character assassination driven by political motives. He has urged that the official reinvestigation be allowed to proceed without political interference while maintaining that he has no involvement in the case.
