A seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli area on Saturday, killing at least two people and injuring another, according to police. The incident occurred in Anjaiah Nagar near the Whitefields locality, where the structure reportedly came crashing down during construction. Emergency teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire personnel, and local police, rushed to the site and launched an extensive rescue operation.
Officials said the building had allegedly been constructed on a 50-square-yard plot adjacent to a nala. The collapse caused debris to fall onto a neighbouring apartment building, damaging parts of the structure and injuring one resident, who was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Rescue teams recovered two bodies from the rubble while continuing to search for any other workers or residents who may have been trapped beneath the debris.
Authorities have cordoned off the area as rescue and clearance operations continue. The exact cause of the collapse has not yet been determined, and officials are expected to conduct a detailed investigation into possible violations of construction and safety regulations. More information is awaited as the operation progresses and authorities assess the full extent of the damage.
