Houthis Say Drones Target Saudi Aramco Facility in Jazan

Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting a Saudi Aramco oil refinery in Jazan, a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border. According to a military source quoted by the Houthi-run Saba News Agency, multiple drones were used in the operation, which the group described as retaliation for alleged violations of Yemeni airspace over the northern provinces of Saada and Hajjah. The Houthis claimed that the drones successfully struck their intended target.

The alleged attack marks another escalation in the long-running conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, where energy infrastructure has frequently been a target of cross-border strikes. The group has repeatedly used drones and missiles against Saudi oil facilities, airports, and other strategic sites, saying such attacks are in response to military actions and air operations carried out by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. However, the latest claims have not yet been independently verified.

Saudi authorities had not issued any official statement on the reported strike at the time of publication, and there was no immediate confirmation regarding damage, casualties, or disruption to refinery operations. The absence of an official response means the Houthi claims remain unverified. Any confirmed attack on a major Aramco facility could have implications for regional security and global energy markets, given Saudi Arabia’s role as one of the world’s largest oil producers.
