Shehzad Poonawalla Steps Away from BJP, Official Confirmation Awaited

Prominent political leader and BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has reportedly resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to reports that surfaced on Friday. The development came a day after Poonawalla updated his profile on X (formerly Twitter), removing the designation “BJP National Spokesperson” from his bio. His revised profile now reads: “Religion: Islam, Culture: Hindu, Ideology: Bhartiya, Author: GST Ki Yatra; Lifelong follower of PM Narendra Modi.” The sudden change sparked speculation about his future within the party.

According to reports, Poonawalla cited personal reasons for stepping down from the BJP. Recently, he had also shared a clip from one of his earlier television interviews in which he stated that the time had come for him to move on from active politics. Despite the reports, neither the BJP leadership nor Shehzad Poonawalla has officially confirmed the resignation. An official statement is expected to provide clarity on the matter in the coming days.

Shehzad Poonawalla has been one of the BJP’s prominent television spokespersons, frequently representing the party in political debates and public discussions. He is also the younger brother of political commentator Tehseen Poonawalla. The two brothers had publicly parted ways politically after Shehzad left the Congress and later joined the BJP. His reported exit has generated significant political interest, with observers awaiting the party’s response and Poonawalla’s next move.
