Iran has claimed that it launched retaliatory strikes on United States military bases in Gulf countries, including Kuwait and Bahrain, following an alleged US attack near the Shahid Baghaei Hospital in Khuzestan province. According to Iranian state media, the hospital, which treats children suffering from cancer and blood disorders, was forced to evacuate most of its patients after the reported strike in the surrounding area. Hospital authorities said the emergency evacuation was carried out to ensure the safety of patients and their families amid growing security concerns.
Majid Bouadhar, the director of Shahid Baghaei Hospital, said that 211 hospitalised patients were transferred to safer locations after what he described as an aggressive attack by the United States near the medical facility. He added that only critically ill patients remained at the hospital, while other children and their accompanying family members were evacuated as a precaution. Iranian officials alleged that the incident endangered vulnerable patients and described it as a serious escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
The reported attack has further intensified tensions across the Middle East, with Iran presenting its strikes on US military bases as a direct response to the incident near the hospital. However, independent verification of the claims made by Iranian state media was not immediately available, and there was no immediate confirmation from US authorities regarding the alleged strike near the hospital. The developments come amid an increasingly volatile regional security situation, with fears that further escalation could widen the conflict across the Gulf region.
