In a significant organisational overhaul, the Telugu Desam Party has appointed Nara Lokesh as its Working President, signaling a clear shift in leadership structure ahead of future elections. The decision was finalised by party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu after extensive internal consultations, with a focus on balancing political, social, and regional factors as the party prepares for the 2029 electoral battle.
As part of the restructuring, the party retained Palla Srinivasa Rao as the Andhra Pradesh unit president, while also appointing several leaders to key national roles. Among them, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Byreddy Sabari, and Rajesh Kilaru have been named as national general secretaries. The move reflects an attempt to strengthen the party’s core leadership and expand its organisational reach at both state and national levels.
The revamped structure includes a 20-member Politburo, a 31-member national committee, and a massive 185-member state committee. The national body will feature multiple vice-presidents, general secretaries, and spokespersons, while the state unit includes a wide network of coordinators and office bearers. This large-scale expansion clearly shows that the party is not just restructuring on paper but actively preparing a strong ground-level machinery, which will be critical if it wants to remain politically relevant in the coming years.
