Drunk Man Suffers Severe Electric Shock After Climbing Transformer in Telangana’s Patancheru

A shocking incident unfolded in Telangana when a heavily intoxicated man climbed atop an electric transformer in the Patancheru area and was electrocuted after coming into contact with live wires. The incident took place at Isnapur ODF Colony, where the man, identified as Narsimulu — a native of Tandur — was seen in a viral video sitting on the transformer while holding a stick. Instead of stepping down despite the obvious danger, he began striking the electric cables, triggering visible sparks that quickly escalated into a life-threatening situation.

Eyewitness footage shows Narsimulu repeatedly hitting the wires as flashes of electricity burst out, moments before he collapsed to the ground after receiving a powerful electric shock. Locals rushed to the scene and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The reckless act not only endangered his own life but also posed a serious risk to people nearby, as a transformer explosion or live wire snap could have caused multiple casualties in the residential colony.

Police noted that such dangerous stunts are increasingly being linked to alcohol abuse, pointing to a similar incident last year in Hyderabad where a man climbed an electric pole following a financial dispute and created chaos outside a police station. Officials have once again urged the public to avoid approaching electrical infrastructure under any circumstances, warning that even a brief touch can prove fatal. The Patancheru incident stands as another brutal reminder that intoxication mixed with high-voltage equipment is not drama — it’s a shortcut to death.
