A major fire accident at a licensed firecracker manufacturing unit in Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh claimed six lives and left two others injured on Wednesday. Police officials suspect that the explosion occurred due to mishandling during the production process. The powerful blast caused panic in the area, with locals rushing to help before emergency services arrived.
District Superintendent of Police Rahul Meena confirmed that the factory was operating with a valid license. “Yes, six bodies have been found. We are verifying their identities. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he told PTI. Firefighters and rescue teams quickly brought the situation under control, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine whether safety protocols were being properly followed at the site. The tragic incident comes just days before the festive season, raising renewed concerns about the safety of fireworks units across the state. Police have urged all such factories to strictly adhere to guidelines to avoid future mishaps.
