New Delhi: A bomb threat received via e-mail on Friday morning created panic at the Delhi High Court, forcing judges, lawyers, and litigants to vacate courtrooms as security agencies rushed to the spot. According to officials, the threatening e-mail was sent to the registrar general around 8:39 am, warning of an explosive device inside the court premises. The alert quickly spread among staff, and some judges were informed while hearings were underway. Within minutes, several courtrooms were cleared, and proceedings were halted, with judges leaving their benches in urgency. The sudden disruption left the entire court complex in shock, as fear of an imminent attack loomed large.

Police sources confirmed that a PCR call was also received in the morning, reporting the e-mail and its claims of a bomb within the building. By 11:35 am, some judges had already stopped proceedings, while others continued hearings until noon before leaving their courts. Meanwhile, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and fire officials were deployed across the premises to carry out thorough checks. Security personnel immediately cordoned off sensitive areas and launched an extensive search operation, combing through every section of the High Court to ensure safety. Litigants, lawyers, and staff members were asked to evacuate as a precautionary measure.

Senior police officials later stated that enhanced security measures had been taken, with additional forces stationed both inside and around the High Court complex. While no suspicious object had been found at the time of reporting, authorities maintained that all protocols were being followed strictly.
