Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received 166 complaints during the Prajavani public grievance programme held at its headquarters on Monday, May 26. The Town Planning Department registered the highest number of complaints at 33, indicating ongoing concerns about urban development and zoning regulations. Other departments like Engineering (4), Tax (3), and Health, UCD, UBD, and Land Acquisition (2 each) also saw public submissions. Additional grievances came from the Electrical, POLWS, Administration, and various zonal offices, each receiving one complaint. Notably, four grievances were also filed via telephone.
The GHMC reported that 104 out of the total grievances originated from its six administrative zones. Kukatpally zone recorded the most petitions with 40, followed by Secunderabad (27), Serilingampally (18), LB Nagar (12), and Charminar (7). This breakdown shows varying levels of civic concern across the city, with Kukatpally residents being the most vocal in this round of public hearings. The Prajavani initiative continues to serve as a critical platform for citizens to address personal, social, and administrative grievances with municipal authorities.
Additional Commissioner Sneha Shabarish directed officials to ensure prompt and responsible redressal of all complaints. Stressing the importance of thorough investigation, she advised departments to treat both personal and social grievances with equal seriousness. Prajavani, which has received thousands of applications in past sessions, remains a vital link between citizens and local governance, reflecting public sentiment and administrative responsiveness in the city of Hyderabad.
